Hello from Miss Lisa!

I have had so many questions lately on “Which method is right for me?” and “How do I know I’m choosing the right one?“ So, I decided to put together the following blogs on different methods and ideas to help you with your choices. Parents, here is a tip. Take what your child loves and help them explore it. My son loved bugs when he was little. He would sit for hours and study every thing that they did. I handed him a notebook and said to him, “Why don't you track what you see. That way you have a way of recalling what they did and how they did it." He took it a step further and sketched the bugs as they worked, and recorded everything that they did. By the time he had finished, he had also used the 4-H Entomology books as well as speaking to local professors from the University of Florida on his own at age 10-11. He earned a credit in Entomology for High School at 13 by compiling all of his notes and material into a notebook and rewriting neatly whatever needed to be improved. He sketched new pictures and he made comparisons all on his own. He did the same for Oceanography. You will find this in the Charlotte Mason method below, and in the Unit Studies method.
